Following a hugely successful run of Nightmare at the Museum we are delighted to announce Rotorua Museum has raised over $2,000 for the Rotorua Brain Injury Trust. Down the Hall on a Saturday Night, curated by our very own Ann Somerville, opened last weekend. Come and experience this nostalgic look at several rural Rotorua community halls post World War II. Towards the end of this month we are looking forward to displaying a unique exhibition Matatoki – Contemporary Maori Carving, showcasing some of New Zealand’s most talented carvers.

The daffodils are blooming so it must be the Spring Season at Rotorua Museum. August was a busy month with the announcement of the winners of the Rotorua Museum Art Awards, and we also became part of history as the venue for two same-sex marriages on 19 August, the day it was legalised in New Zealand. September brings with it a range of fun activities during school holidays as well as the opening of the exhibition Down the Hall on a Saturday Night.
