MUSEUM PROJECT UPDATE: October – December 2024

Monday, 7 October 2024

What’s happening over the next three months?
⚙ The North Wing (zones 4, 5 and 6 ) is fully scaffolded and wrapped, and work is progressing to get the scaffolding up in zone 2 so that the main central section (zone 3) can be scaffolded and wrapped. The North Wing roof tiles have been removed and work will start on the seismic strengthening and warm-roof system.

⚙ Seismic strengthening continues inside the South Wing (zones 1 and 2) and we are going to tell you more about what this means, why different seismic solutions are used in different places, and how the extensive building investigations has helped form these unique solutions.

⚙ Works continue in zone 2 for the new lift which, for the first time ever, will allow accessibility from the mud bath basement up the mezzanine level.

⚙ We are also looking forward to introducing you to some of the project team over the next few months and sharing some of the hidden treasures we have found since construction begun!

Find out what has already happened and keep up with what’s next
