MUSEUM PROJECT UPDATE: August – September 2024

Friday, 2 August 2024

It is an exciting time as we have scaffolding going up all over zones 4, 5 and 6 (the North Wing)! It is going to take a month or so due to the size of the building and all its sticky-outy bits!

The turrets and viewing platforms will be removed and head off to be restored and then the building will be wrapped so the new Warm Roofing System, new roof tiles and exterior work can begin.

Seismic upgrading will begin in zone 1 (the South Wing) and creation of the new lift pit and shaft will start in zone 2, which will allow access to the mezzanine level once the Museum re-opens!

As work continues in August and September, we will share more information and images about each of these elements on our Facebook page and take you along on our journey!
